The luster of higher education in California is wearing off fast -- that is the concern of a growing number of people worried about the state of the state's public colleges and universities. It is creating a brain drain that could have long term consequences. Lamenting tuition hikes and class availability, students held a mock funeral at Sacramento State University to underscore what they call the death of higher education in California. They placed condolences in a box resembling a coffin.
