Minn. leans on higher ed systems to cover bills - The Associated Press

Minnesota finance officials say they are borrowing earlier and more extensively from one state higher education system and will pay another system late to keep the state budget from going into the red. Budget planning director Charlie Bieleck says the state borrowed $330 million from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities funds held in the state treasury and will continue using some of the money through June. He also says the state will delay a payment to the University of Minnesota by several days.
