College-bound stay closer to home - Genevieve Marshall, The Morning Call

The state university close to home might not have the cachet of the Ivy League, but its comparatively low price tag is giving it an edge this year. Applications are up at state colleges in the area, but down at some higher-priced private schools -- an indication, some say, that students are looking for good buys in a bad economy.
