Iowa university presidents warn of cuts - MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press

The presidents of Iowa's three state universities say proposed budget cuts will result in increased costs and larger class sizes at the schools. The presidents say they face difficult budget choices. Iowa state Sen. Herman Quirmbach, D-Ames, teaches economics at Iowa State. He said the size of some introductory classes has grown from a couple of hundred students to as many as 380. "That crosses the line from teaching to performing," said Quirmbach.
