Southeastern University, a 130-year-old private college in Southwest D.C., is on the verge of losing its accreditation and has been asked to facilitate the transfer of existing students to other schools. On March, 5 the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, a nonprofit regulator overseen by the Department of Education, acted to strip the school of its accreditation for an array of administrative failures, including a lack of strategic planning, financial resources and data systems.
