Colleges, universities sacrifice in tough economic times - Molly Broad, President, American Council on Education, USA Today

It is wrong and unfair to state that American colleges and universities are taking a "business-as-usual approach" to the economic crisis. In fact, hundreds of institutions across the country have made tough budget decisions that include layoffs, furloughs, wage and hiring freezes and the elimination of programs. In the meantime, enrollments climb as students seek retraining and the economic edge of a college degree.
