The heads of the state's 11 biggest public universities went to Tallahassee on Thursday to plead with lawmakers not to cut $500 million from their budgets. The president of the University of Central Florida asked legislators in the state House of Representatives on Thursday for more money to help educate the school's 50,000 students.... The state Senate's proposed budget would cut $22 million from the university's funding, but the House's proposal cuts $57 million.
