In one of the largest budget cuts in the history of Washington State University, the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences agriculture will cut 74 jobs, according the college's dean. Dean Dan Bernardo said that though some of the jobs are vacant, 40 full-time equivalent jobs will be dropped. In WSU Extension, meanwhile, 56 positions will be eliminated - 42 of them currently occupied. "The big whack" is how Bernardo described the overall budget cuts during a May 1 meeting and video broadcast for WSU employees, students and the public.
