Southern University campus leaders discussed layoffs and one-day-a-month unpaid employee furloughs Friday. Across town, the University of Louisiana System approved furlough guidelines of up to 15 days per year at its eight colleges. Southern and all eight UL System schools also are planning to increase tuition and fees by 5 percent in the fall, the systems’ Board of Supervisors decided.
