UW to borrow from private financial model - NICK EATON, SEATTLE PI

The University of Washington just reached what administrators see as a major checkpoint: In the fall, for the first time in the UW's modern history, more funding will come from student tuition than from state government. State funding, as UW administrators see it, is no longer a reliable source of cash. Neither are research grants, which come and go. Other income sources are susceptible to economic fluctuations. The only thing left is tuition.
