UC President Mark Yudof's proposal to cut faculty and staff salaries up to 8 percent landed with a thud at campuses across California this week. "It is not a small cut, and people will justifiably be surprised and dismayed," Quentin Williams, the outgoing chair of UC Santa Cruz's Academic Senate, said Friday.
