Report: States’ tax collections down - The Business Review (Albany)

States experienced record declines in tax collections over the first quarter of this year, according to a new report from the Rockefeller Institute of Government, in Albany, N.Y. Tax revenue dropped in 47 states from January through March 2009, compared with the year before, says the report, issued July 17. Overall, tax collections were 11.7 percent behind last year’s pace—the sharpest decline in the 46 years that quarterly tax data has been available.
