Bobby Stocks was able to get a jump-start on earning college credits by taking courses at Nash Community College tuition-free while still in high school. The now-full-time college student was one of many in the last 20 years who has benefitted from the Dual Enrollment program, which allows high school students ages 16 and up to enroll in community college courses without paying tuition and fees. But a state budget proposed last week that drastically cuts funding to the program has community college officials on edge, and former students of the program disagreeing with the cuts.
