Legislative fiscal leaders want to know why state-funded universities have raised tuition--in some cases beyond recommended levels--and will ask school administrators for justification at next week's meeting of the bipartisan State Budget Committee. Committee Chairman Sen. Luke Kenley, R-Noblesville, said in a statement Wednesday that "a growing number of lawmakers are among Hoosiers offended by what seems to be an unwillingness or inability to cut and contain costs at such a critical recessionary time facing Indiana students and parents."
