Middle Tennessee State University President McPhee addresses SGA about current budget woes - Megan McSwain, MTSU Sidelines
MTSU President Sidney McPhee addressed students regarding budget cuts, college restructuring, Aramark prices and the gender identity bill at the Student Government Association meeting last Thursday. At the meeting, which was open to non-SGA members, McPhee spoke and answered questions. His main topic was budget cuts. McPhee said budget reductions have been the cause of some of the university’s problems. He said no university president would choose to give up money from the school’s budget, but the university receives money from the state, which is suffering from the poor economy. McPhee said Tennessee depends on the sales tax as its source of revenue and must make budget cuts to make up for the lack of money coming into the state.
