William and Mary hikes spring tuition, will layoff 12- Tyra M. Vaughn, Daily Press

Tuition is on the rise again at the College of William and Mary. The university's Board of Visitors approved Friday a $300 tuition hike for all undergraduate, graduate business and law school students beginning in the spring semester, which starts in January. William and Mary is among several state-supported universities that have approved or are considering mid-year tuition hikes to help offset state reductions in funding this fiscal year. William and Mary is also eliminating 18 jobs, which include 12 layoffs, to help balance its budget.
