Area legislators told of higher-ed budget needs - SARA PLUMMER, Tulsa World

While state agencies are dealing with a budget crisis, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education are requesting a 2.5 percent increase over last year’s legislative appropriation. The decision from lawmakers on that request will affect tuition at the state’s 25 public colleges and universities, Chancellor Glen Johnson said Friday at a presentation to area legislators at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. Tuition was frozen last year, thanks to a 3 percent increase in state appropriations. Decisions about tuition for the 2010-11 academic year won’t be made until May.
