Budget cuts push CWU to ask staff to take leave, retirement - Erin Snelgrove, Yakima Herald-Republic

To cut costs, Central Washington University is asking for voluntary retirements, resignations and leaves from its 1,500 regional employees. The plan, announced Friday, comes after the university lost $18 million from the state last spring. With the Legislature grappling to fix a $2.6 billion budget shortfall, the university predicts additional cuts will be forthcoming.
