Community colleges face $56.7M cut - Karla Cruz, Legislative Gazette

Gov. David A. Paterson announced on Jan. 19 his $134 billion budget plan for the 2010-2011 fiscal year that would reduce the base aid for SUNY and CUNY community colleges. In an attempt to close the state's budget-gap, Paterson proposed $56.7 million in savings for fiscal year 2010-2011 by reducing SUNY and CUNY community college base aid by about $285 per full-time student. According to the Executive Budget proposal, these cuts would also save the state $75.6 million in fiscal year 2011-2012.
