College budget cuts taking toll on students, teachers - John Pope, The Times-Picayune

Class sizes are bigger because sections have been cut. As a result, some students are having a tough time scheduling courses they need to graduate. Faculty members are being cut or furloughed. At UNO, lights are turned off when rooms are empty, and thermostats have been reset to save energy. Building repairs take longer. "Sometimes, rooms are really hot; sometimes, they're really cold," Bonie said. "I think the teachers are on edge."
