Winona State University spends $52,000 on conference table - Matt Christensen, Winona Daily News

Winona State University has paid $52,000 for a conference table, even as the school’s president warned this week of potential layoffs. The table will seat 40 when installed later this month in the newly remodeled Professional Resource Center in Maxwell Hall. Custom-built from bamboo, it features video conferencing technology and replaces several portable folding tables. The university justified the purchase Friday, saying the table will be used often and last nearly 50 years. Others say WSU paid too much.
