NMSU regents: Budget cuts likely - Amanda L. Husson,Sun-News

Regents tried to stay positive, but acknowledged Monday that cuts to the state's higher education funding would likely translate to tough decisions about the university's budget.
NMSU's Office of Government Relations estimated that the NMSU system could face a significant reduction in state funding. The estimates presented to the board at its Monday meeting were neither official nor final, but Regents Chair Blake Curtis and New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture both mentioned that the university will have to examine ways to make cuts. "They've given us a task, and we'll do the best that we know how," Curtis said. "For those who are concerned about their jobs, there is always plenty to do for those who are willing."
