Proposed budget cuts threaten Drew funding - Michelle Caffrey, Drew Acorn

Governor Christopher Christie is putting the New Jersey budget on the chopping block, and Drew University could feel the pain. The governor’s budget proposal last week could pose significant challenges to Drew because he called for major cuts in state funding toward education. Specifically, the proposal eliminates all state aid to private universities, reduction in Tuition Aid Grants (TAG) for low income students and cutting funding for the Equal Opportunity Scholars (EOS) program. If passed the cuts, would amount to a net loss of over $500,000 in revenue for Drew per year, University President Bob Weisbuch announced in an e-mail to faculty and staff last Friday.
