University of Alberta commences staff layoffs - Sean Steels, the Gateway

To cope with the pressure of a $59 million budget deficit, the University of Alberta has begun staff layoffs with the termination of five employees. "With sadness I am informing you that today the Department has given notice to four [Non-Academic Staff Association] and one [Association of Academic Staff, University of Alberta] employees," said Kevin Moodie, acting director of Academic Information and Communication Technologies in an interdepartmental correspondence.
