The cuts at SDSU include the elimination of the Vice President for Administration office, reorganization of support services in the Office of Academic Affairs, and the elimination of three positions assistant to the dean of the College of General Studies, associate registrar, and acquisitions library assistant. The way the university plans to manage general education courses, downsizing computer labs budget, and the merger of two colleges into the College of Education and Human Sciences will save thousands as well. President David Chicoine, in a campus-wide message Thursday, emphasized to faculty and staff that "everything possible will be done to assure the very best educational experiences continue to be provided for students at our university" as the university manages through the state funding reduction in the upcoming fiscal year.
