Editorial: Budget crunch takes toll on students, universities

Amid news of a challenging job market for this year's college graduates comes this additional nugget of bad news: The University of Minnesota plans to raise undergraduate tuition 4.4 percent for next year.This is an unfortunate-yet-inevitable result of the statewide economic crisis. With money tight everywhere, and the U of M facing a $152 million budget shortfall, President Robert Bruininks had little choice but to propose that students shoulder part of the burden.
