Lesson in austerity coming for SUNY - SCOTT WALDMAN, Albany Times-Union
Employees of the State University of New York's administrative headquarters are being prepared for furloughs and layoffs. Some employees have already been notified that their positions are being eliminated and some union-protected workers can expect that difficult news once an analysis of seniority and bumping rights is completed, according to a memo distributed last week by Vice Chancellor Monica Rimai. Managerial employees who make more than $150,000 will be furloughed for nine days and those who make less than $150,000 will be furloughed for seven days. It will take place during the budget year that runs from July 1 to June 30, 2011.
