Mansfield University faces budget cuts, layoffs - CHERYL R. CLARKE , Sun Gazette

In light of a projected $4 million in budget shortfalls in 2011-12 and possibly beyond, Mansfield University President Maravene Loeschke has informed the local chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties that curriculum changes and staff layoffs are under consideration. Loeschke made the announcement in a letter to Mansfield APSCUF Chapter President William Chabala last week. According to university Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Keller, the changes would not take effect until the next fiscal year. He could not say how many employees, courses or departments would be affected, but the university is trying to manage all it can through attrition.
