The University of Texas System will shed another 19 jobs this summer, closing two executive offices and saving $2.2 million a year. The cuts were announced Wednesday, part of an effort to reorganize the office since Francisco Cigarroa was named chancellor in 2009. Randa Safady, vice chancellor for external relations, said the changes aren't just about saving money, although that remains an issue because of a state budget deficit that could reach $18 billion.
“It wasn't simply, how do we cut our budget, but how ... can we become as efficient and productive as possible?” she said.
