Board OKs lean COD budget - Sun Times Media

To make up for projected shortfalls, which also include an expected district-wide drop in property values and subsequent decrease in funding from taxpayers, the college has examined every aspect of the budget. Among the budget-reducing moves were a reduction in positions, a travel freeze, cuts in postage and publications, and required cabinet and presidential approval for any new hires. Administrators also agreed to pay a larger share of health care premiums, one-third of tuition and 100 percent of associated fees for classes for themselves and dependents. Part-time faculty also agreed to pay one-third of tuition and all associated fees. Student tuition for the coming year was increased the maximum amount: to $129 per credit hour.
