Mott Community College hikes tuition 11.7 percent starting in 2011 - Beata Mostafavi, Flint Journal

Community college in Flint just got more expensive. Mott Community College’s Board of Trustees on Monday followed the path of fellow colleges and approved a double-digit tuition increase. It’s the largest hike in more than 10 years, but one trustees said was the lesser evil. The 11.7 percent spike will raise both tuition and fees by about $327 a year for the average student taking 12 credits starting next January. “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make on the board,” Trustee and MCC alumna Pam Faris said after the meeting. “I understand how hard it is to pay tuition and to get yourself through ... but we want to keep Mott Community College a great college.”
