Virginia Tech and Radford work to ease effects of lost faculty, staff members - Tonia Moxley, The Roanoke Times
When Virginia Tech students return to classes in a few weeks, administrators hope they will not notice the reduced faculty and staff but that they will notice a stronger emphasis on disclosing run-ins with police. When students return to Virginia Tech and Radford University this month, they'll find the ranks of the professors, administrators and staff who serve them thinned by state budget cuts. But officials say careful restructuring and reallocation of resources will ensure little noticeable change for students in the classroom. Their instructors and professors, however, will feel the continued pressure of doing more with less. And the state's growers and producers who depend on Tech's agricultural extension services may also feel the pinch.
