Savannah's two public universities started the fall 2010 term with new campus facilities, increased enrollment and another mandate to plan for 4 percent, 6 percent and 8 percent budget cuts. Once again, the state university system has asked every public college and university president to come up with plans to cut spending, just in case there is another mid-year state budget cut. Last year, the budget proposals resulted in student protests across the state as word of possible program cuts spread.
