Thousands of College Students Won’t Get Cal Grants - Ashley Ritchie, KMPH

Fresno City College student Sean Donovan depends on state grants to make it through the year. "I'm not really employed right now. So it's kind of my only financial source," Donovan said. The $1,551 Donovan and more than 300,000 California students get from Cal Grants may not seem like much. But for the low-income families that qualify, it helps out a lot. "I usually just save it to live off of. But school books and school costs are mostly it goes towards," Donovan said. But without a signed state budget, money for those grants will not be shelled out.
