La. House moves to cut salaries for college presidents, school superintendents - Jan Moller, The Times-Picayune The Times-Picayune

The amendments passed overwhelmingly despite concerns that capping the salaries would make it harder to recruit top-level candidates. The amendment by Champagne would restrict the salaries of college chancellors and system presidents to no more than 10 percent of their Southern peers and cut their car and housing allowances in half. The Appropriations Committee is expected to make more changes to the budget bill on Tuesday before sending it to the full House for more debate.
