Purdue's state funding set - Eric Weddle, Journal Courier

Purdue University has lost more than $7 million in state funding for each of the next two years in the latest state budget approved last week by the Indiana General Assembly. How that will hit academic programs, tuition and campus services remains to be seen. State legislators did not keep Purdue's operating funding where it was in the previous two years, as requested by university officials. But lawmakers did not slash statewide programs, including Purdue Extension, as some administrators had expected. Student fees and tuition make up 60 percent of the West Lafayette's general fund budget. Another 27 percent came from the state this year.
