Students face long wait times for appointments for health care - Alice Zhao, The Dartmouth
Due to College-wide budget cuts, Dick’s House had to let go its staff psychiatrist and various other employees. During the College’s reaccreditation process — which the New England Association of Schools and Colleges conducted last November — several students raised concerns about the quality of medical services offered at Dick’s House. Students interviewed by The Dartmouth highlighted long wait times, a low quality of primary care and difficulties understanding the Dartmouth Student Group Health Plan as problems with treatment. Dick’s House is currently undergoing an external review of its services, Director of Health Services Jack Turco said. Nursing Director Charlene Bradley said the process, which will likely be completed by June 30, will hopefully improve the clinic’s ability to serve the Dartmouth community.
