State budget cuts have taken their toll at state university campuses, including the University at Albany. Fewer courses have caused larger class sizes. Some students cannot get into general education classes needed in their sophomore year because of the lack of available classes. Students at other campuses have had to delay graduation because required classes were full before they could register. It's not the students' fault; state budget cuts have left campuses without funds to hire more professors and schedule more courses. In addition, the UAlbany administration continues on a course to cut programs in French, Italian, Russian, classics and theater.
