University of Wisconsin System administration must cut 50 jobs under budget plan - Deborah Ziff, Wisconsin State Journal

University of Wisconsin System administration must cut about 50 full time positions -- or 40 percent of its staff -- under the budget that Gov. Scott Walker is expected to sign this week. That means the size of administrative staff will be reduced from 126 to about 75. "Our goal is to minimize any layoffs that might be needed," said UW System spokesman David Giroux. "We're not sure at this point if that's something we can do." Walker stipulated in his budget plan that the UW System must cut its administrative budget by 25 percent, but the state Legislature's budget committee added the additional requirement that it cut staff positions.
