Community college students are the latest group to be shouldered with the burden of making up for cuts to the state budget. The Community College System of New Hampshire board of trustees set tuition for next year at $210 per credit for in-state students. That is an increase of 7.7 percent over the 2010-11 school year rate of $195 per credit. For students taking a full 15-credit course load, this means an increase of $225 per semester next year. Full-time attendance will cost $6,300 for the year.
The news was expected, as the system’s budget was cut by 20 percent in next year’s budget, the largest one-year reduction in the system’s history. New Hampshire has seven community colleges, including Nashua Community College. Tuition increases won’t make up the difference alone, said system spokesperson Shannon Reid.
