Budget cuts target education - Patrick Garrett, Roosevelt Torch

According to RAFOs estimates, the 2011-12 Budget would cut 235 classes from the fall schedule, reduce courses taught by adjunct faculty by 22%, and "cut an estimated 75 part-time teachers". Roosevelt President Charles Middleton announced these proposed cuts at an open forum on May 23. According to information provided by the President of RAFO Luann Swartzlander, the Roosevelt community was made aware of a budget shortfall of $7.8 million, because of "overly optimistic" student enrollment projections made for the 2011–12 school year.
