A tentative budget agreement between Gov. Tom Corbett and top Republican leaders in the state House and Senate would mean cuts in aid of nearly 20 percent for state-supported universities. On Friday, the House Appropriations Committee approved a total cut in funding of $130 million for Penn State, Temple, Pitt and Lincoln universities, a reduction of 19 percent over current funding. University of Pennsylvania The emerging agreement also includes an 18 percent, or $90 million reduction, for the 14 schools in the state System of Higher Education, which includes East Stroudsburg and Kutztown universities.
