N.H. does not support higher education - Seacoast Online
New Hampshire taxpayers already contributed the least of any state in the union toward higher education when the Legislature cut that funding nearly in half, by another $48.5 million. In a single budget the state cut its support of higher education from $100 million to $51.5 million. "We now have in New Hampshire the dubious distinction of having experienced the largest single cut to a public higher- education system in the history of America, period," said University of New Hampshire President Mark Huddleston. The relationship between the state and University System of New Hampshire has become abusive. Lawmakers seemed to take sadistic delight in the cuts made to the university system in this budget cycle.
