Doctorate program to be phased due to budget - Lauren Westberg, Purdue Exponent
Due to decreased funds from the state, a program helping pharmacy students to earn their doctorate is being phased out. The Non-traditional Doctor of Pharmacy Program allows for students with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy to earn a doctorate and still continue their current pharmaceutical practice. This is one of the ways the College of Pharmacy has been adjusting for a decreased budget. Craig Svensson, dean of the College of Pharmacy, wrote in an email that this does not immediately aid in lowering the budget but will help with future finances. "Since this program has been self-sustaining, phasing out the program provides no immediate budget savings," Svensson wrote. "It does avoid future investments that would be necessary to meet new accreditation standards."
