If the debate over the campaign to turn the University of South Florida Polytechnic into an independent university were a soccer game, red penalty cards would be flying. If it were taking place in a courtroom, "objection!" would be a refrain. And if it was happening on a kindergarten playground, just about everyone would be in time out. But it's a grown-up discussion involving politicians, business people, educators, students, faculty and the media. And some say it's completely out of hand at a time when the State University System of Florida Board of Governors said administrators, faculty members and students would have to work together if USF Poly was to become independent.
