Quebec's universities are desperately underfunded. Students experience this every day when they sit in the aisles of overcrowded lecture halls, when smaller seminars are cancelled due to budget cuts, and when their university buildings are literally crumbling around them. The fact that a public institution such as Mc-Gill can have an estimated total accumulated deficit of $275 million exemplifies the crisis facing post-secondary education. How can we maintain highquality universities while financing them in a manner that ensures accessibility to all qualified students?
