Despite being promised the first increase in state funding in three years, the University of Alabama board of trustees is again asking state lawmakers to restore the UA system’s state appropriation to its fiscal 2008 level. On Thursday, trustees on the board’s finance committee approved for the fourth straight year a resolution requesting $611 million in funding for the system’s hospital and three universities in Birmingham, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa. The system last received $458 million from the state.
