Facing ongoing state budget cuts, officials at Amarillo College scaled back administrative positions, school officials said. AC President Paul Matney said administrative cuts made up the biggest part of his college’s budget cuts this year. “I know that what we’ve got to do is get a control on our costs,” Matney said. “We had to reduce faculty positions a few, we had to reduce a few classified positions, but the administrative positions were the largest percentage.” Facing as much as $11 million in budget cuts over the next two years, Amarillo College officials cut 8 percent of the school’s administrative positions and raised tuition and fees by about $7 per credit hour for in-district students, spokesman Joe Wyatt said.
