College presidents finalize proposed program cuts - Jean Crowden Moore, Ventura County Star

The presidents of Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura colleges have made their final recommendations on programs to cut — lists that include sports, music and interior design. The Ventura County Community College District board, which oversees the colleges, will review the recommendations Jan. 10 and vote on them Jan. 17. The district is facing an $11 million deficit next fiscal year. "These cuts are a very small part of the reduction that will be necessary," Chancellor James Meznek said. The district is considering cutting more jobs and shortening the work year.
