Occupiers protest state cuts at Napa Valley College - KERANA TODOROV Napa Valley Register

With shouts of “People, Yes! Corporations, No!” and holding signs that read “Greed is Not Good” and “Jobs Not Cuts,” about 80 students, union representatives and others marched Saturday from Napa Valley College to the top of the Maxwell Bridge. The early-afternoon rally started at Occupy Napa Valley College’s encampment on the edge of the community college campus, where students and activists have camped since Thursday night in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement. Julio Soriano, a Napa Valley College student and Occupy Napa Valley College organizer, said he is protesting against budget cuts to education. “Higher education should be accessible to everyone,” said Soriano, 21, a member of the local Dream Act Coalition.
